(The original versions of Age of Empires included all of the code for these trig functions in the game, rather than relying on a separate DLL, which meant this wasn't a problem.)Ĭhanging rounding modes should be a trivial fix, right? Especially if everything's using IEEE754. Unfortunately, this sort of out-of-sync error is really really difficult to fix: it basically involves making every single possible calculation (including those with sines and cosines and square roots) have exactly the same rounding errors, without being able to look at the working.

  • when you apply the workaround, the actual file in the Proton directory is not overwritten, but instead the symlink in the game directory is?Īnyway, I think we can all agree that while the workaround is not that complicated, it's still frustrating to have to apply one.
  • you manually change the Proton version.
  • the Proton version you use itself receives updates (eg.
  • could one of these things explain the issue you're facing: The actual ucrtbase.dll file is located in the Proton directory, not directly in a specific game directory, and it's symlinked from the game. I unfortunately can't tell why / when it stopped being one. Same here, game updates don't undo the workaround these days, but I remember this has been an issue for me as well in the past. This is weird! I've been getting updates for the last few months but I never had to redo the fixes

I just wasn't patient enough :)Įvery time there's a small update it undoes the fix I am probably still missing some DX dependencies ?ĮDIT: OK, now it runs, and buildings and units are rendered properly. The game just doesn't pop up, only cursor changes and then nothing is rendered and mouse is not moving (looks like the screen is controllerd by the app but nothing is rendered) and I can get out of it only after I press alt+tab.

But now I have installed the DXVK and it doesn't run anymore. I still ment the staging version, just not proton. I am not sure we mean the same thing by "pure". Have you also changed the Windowsversion or does it also run with "Windows 7" ? I hadn't the idea to click on ignore before I did that so I was unsure if it really runs on pure. I reinstalled vcrun, because I thought that a reinstalled vcrun would help. I saw the game needed DirectX11 (looked at Systemrequirements) and I knew that it isn't yet fully implemented in wine, so I tried DXVK, which just worked.

:) So where did you manage to run it before? or how did you know that DXVK is needed for buildings and units? In mozo78s output (wine-staging 4.20) this error is also missing there just isn't an ignore option for him (for some reason).ĭXVK is needed to display buildings and units otherwise they are invisible it shouldn't have to do with this bug. So with wine-staging 4.19 I don't get the MSVCRT_raise error.
